The Cassini-Huygens mission: 20 years of success

Twenty years ago, the Huygens probe landed on Titan after a 7.5-year interplanetary journey aboard the Cassini spacecraft. This mission revealed the complexity of Saturn’s system and marked a major advance in the exploration of the Solar System. Huygens remains the only spacecraft to have landed on a satellite other than the Moon, and it remains the most distant landing ever achieved.

During this three-day symposium, the origins and major discoveries of the international Cassini-Huygens mission were discussed, both from a scientific and technological perspective. Future prospects for the exploration of Titan and Enceladus, which are at the heart of upcoming space programs, were also the focus of discussions.

With a large international audience in attendance, the event was a resounding success, demonstrating the appeal and global reach of this extraordinary mission.
